“Fade”

John Lennon Songwriting Contest - Grand Prize Winner - 2025

Music For Humanity Songwriting Contest - 1st Runner-up - 2025

International Acoustic Music Awards - Finalist (Best Group/Duo) - 2025

International Songwriting Competition - Semi-finalist - 2025

We have some incredibly exciting news to share. Our song "Fade" (co-written with Patricia Bahia) has officially been named a Grand Prize Winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest!

Out of 16,000 entries, "Fade" was selected as a winner in its category and has earned a spot in the Top 24. Now, we enter the most critical phase: Public Online Voting. The top 24 will be narrowed down to 12 finalists, from which the judges (Natasha Bedingfield, American Authors, Sean Paul, Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, George Clinton, and many others) will select the overall Song of the Year.

Winning Song of the Year would mean $20k and massive industry exposure—but we can’t get there without you.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT MORE THAN EVER!

HOW TO HELP
(April 1st – April 30th)

Starting April 1st, you can vote once per day, every day, until the end of the month.

  1. Visit the Voting Link: https://www.jlsc.com/vote.php

  2. Find "Fade": Scroll to the Folk category and cast your vote. (You don't even need to enter an email for the vote to count! But you can enter your email on their website to be entered for their own Taylor guitar giveaway that's going on.)

  3. Repeat Daily: Set a bookmark or a daily alarm! Consistency is what will get us into that Top 12.

  4. **If there are multiple people voting from the same location TURN OFF WIFI and use your phone to vote: To prevent bot voting, the JLSC voting system logs voters’ IP addresses to restrict votes to 1x per day per IP address. People who share an internet connection, for example: home wifi, office network, usually share an external IP address. In that situation we recommend that voters use their mobile phone’s cellular connection to vote as doing so will give each voter a unique IP address and allow each person in the home to cast a vote.

BIG THANK YOUS:

The January Lanterns is an indie-folk-pop duo created by husband-and-wife team Andrew and Kristen Camp. The high school sweethearts have navigated life’s highs and lows together and their music is a raw and heartfelt expression of their journey. With bittersweet harmonies and poignant lyrics, they craft a sound that blends warm folk melodies with pop-infused production, creating something deeply intimate yet expansive.

Based in Missouri, The January Lanterns’ music speaks to anyone who’s lived through love, loss, and the complex beauty of personal growth. Their second album, That’s What We’ll Be, released in May 2025, follows their debut LP, For The Kids, When They’re Older (2022), and several singles that paved the way for their evolving sound. That’s What We’ll Be offers a collection of stories about vulnerability, transformation, and embracing life’s uncertainties.

As recent Grand Prize winners in the 2026 John Lennon Songwriting Contest, they have continued to earn critical recognition and commercial success.

Their music is a comforting embrace—a glowing light in the darkness of life's challenges—offering stories of vulnerability, hope, and transformation. Two lanterns, burning bright in the night sky.

Reviews

The endearing intimacy of this husband and wife team is fully realized in these left-of-center, dreamy, immersive songs that embrace both folk roots and lofty, airy, indie layers to weave a quietly cinematic, classically American tale of moments lost and regrets begun.
— Warner-Chappell
The January Lanterns are lovers, not fighters.

The Columbia duo’s catalog is marked by its soft touches: songs like kisses and fingertips brushing shoulders, like lovers’ hands reaching and like arms wrapped around another beloved body and holding it through the night.

And yet Andrew and Kristen Camp land a staggering blow to open their new record “That’s What We’ll Be.” Not exactly a 1-2 punch, as these initial songs arrive as gorgeous gestures. But still they dizzy the listener, setting up the band’s best and most beautiful record to date.
— Columbia Daily Tribune, Aarik Danielsen
“Take A Breather” is a relatable, melodic charmer from the project, who describe the track as about “the yearning to break free from the mundane, contemplating grand escapades only to find solace in the simple joys of home.”
